For travelers staying in Pokhara and planning to trek in the Annapurna region, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek from Pokhara is one of the most suitable options offered by Hello Pokhara. Compared to other base camp treks in Nepal, this journey is relatively low in altitude and easier to complete. However, for those seeking a quieter and less crowded experience, the North Annapurna Base Camp Trek is an excellent alternative.
Renowned for its natural beauty and unforgettable experiences, the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trekking route is surrounded by majestic peaks such as Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna Fang, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, and Tent Peak. Despite being shorter than many other base camp treks, the ABC Trek offers spectacular Himalayan scenery, rich biodiversity, and remarkable cultural diversity.
Trekkers on the Annapurna Base Camp Trek have the opportunity to experience authentic mountain life while passing through the culturally vibrant Gurung and Magar villages. The trail lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is home to rare flora and fauna, including musk deer, leopards, langur and rhesus monkeys, bears, and various reptile species.
The trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Siwai, followed by a walk through terraced farmlands, suspension bridges, and lush rhododendron and bamboo forests en route to Chomrong. Along the way, trekkers enjoy impressive views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre massifs. From Chomrong, the trail continues to Dovan, gradually ascending through dense bamboo and rhododendron forests.
Leaving Dovan, the route follows the Modi Khola toward Deurali, passing through dramatic Himalayan landscapes and the Hinku Cave. After crossing Deurali, the most exciting phase of the trek begins with visits to Machhapuchhre Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp via the Modi Khola Glacier Valley. From Annapurna Base Camp, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, and Machhapuchhre.
An overnight stay at Annapurna Base Camp allows trekkers to fully appreciate the alpine environment. The return journey continues to Sinuwa, followed by a trek to Jhinu Danda, where trekkers can relax in natural hot springs. The trek concludes at Siwai, from where a drive brings you back to Pokhara after a memorable journey.
For trekkers who have already completed the ABC Trek, we also organize additional trekking adventures throughout the Annapurna region.
