Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal it can be completed in a short duration, anytime around the year, and doesn’t necessarily require any experience. It is one of the best short and easy treks which offers panoramic views of the stunning Annapurna Himalayan range while passing through beautiful forests (especially rhododendron forest) and insightful local Gurung and Magar villages. Our Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking journey kicks off as we drive towards Nayapul which is the starting point of the trek. Slowly hiking through waterfalls, small settlements, bamboo, and rhododendron forests, we stay overnight at Tikhedhunga. The journey through nature to Ghorepani and Poon Hill then tests our fitness as we ascend 3,300 steps at Ulleri which rewards us with great views of the Himalayas hiding in the shade of the trees. Capture the perfect picture of landscapes, trees, and the Himalayas at this point. Pushing ourselves further for a couple of hours we arrive at Ghorepani village.
The next day before dawn we hike up to Poon Hill to capture the best sunrise views over the Himalayas. It will be mesmerizing to see the sun’s golden rays slowly rising through the Annapurna Himalayan range. As well as Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Machhapuchre, Mt. Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak, Lamjung Himal, and other neighboring peaks. After sunrise views, we descend towards Tadapani. Further trekking through the insightful cultural and traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk. And we will head back to Pokhara and then finally end our Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek by driving toward Kathmandu.
The travel to Birethanti from Pokhara takes roughly 1.5 hours. Your Poon Hill Trek will begin in Birethanti, where you can reach by following Modi Khola. You will pass numerous local villages, teahouses, beautiful green rolling hills, rivers, and locals throughout the journey. After passing through the charming village of Hile, you will arrive in Tikhedhunga. The trail then starts to ascend pretty steeply on a stone staircase once you cross the suspension bridge. You will be in the sizable Magar village of Ulleri, where you can get a sight of Hiunchuli and Mount Annapurna South.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Route from Ulleri to Banthanti travels through rhododendron and oak woodlands. You will arrive at Nangge Thanti by following Bhurungdi Khola side by side. The portion of the adventure where you spend the majority of the day trekking through the jungle will be really exciting. From Ghorepani, a short trek will take you to Poonhill, where you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of the mountain ranges and a stunning sunrise. Poon Hill is the greatest vantage point along this Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trek Journey and is undoubtedly a photographer's aspiration. You can walk to the top of the hill, which is at a height of 3210m/ 10,531ft, in about an hour. From there, you can see the Himalayas, including the Annapurna, Bahari Shikhar, Hiuchuli, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, and other peaks. After capturing enough breathtaking images of the sun rising over the mountains, you will return to the guesthouse in Ghorepani for breakfast before heading towards Tadapani. The Ghorepani and Annapurna Circuit Trek is connected by a lovely woodland track that passes through forests of oak and rhododendron trees and leads to Deurali. Banthanti is reached by a route that descends through rhododendron woodland. Then the way ascends and passes through a cane field to get to Bhurungdi Khola, after which it climbs once again via a series of steep woods for 20 minutes before arriving at Tadapani, another lovely settlement that offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna peaks.
Ghorepani with Poon Hill Trek Journey from Tadapani to Ghandruk through oak and rhododendron woodland is relatively easy. Along the walk, wildflowers may be seen, which enhances the region's remarkable attractiveness. You will carry on your journey via the Baisi Kharka to Ghandruk. Once you get to Ghandruk, you will be able to see Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machapuchare, Annapurna III, and Hiunchuli. A museum and a Buddhist monastery are among their many cultural attractions.
